Project Success Finds Success at the Boundary Waters

When Project Success shows up, we all have a blast! This week we welcomed 14 groups from Project Success, a youth organization located in Minneapolis, and they hit the trail running! From the first paddle in the painted birchbark canoes over to Fishhook Island, to the swim and swamps in the fresh water, these groups came prepared to learn and were ready to see what else was in store for them along the many trails of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area.

One camper exclaimed after a few minutes of treading water during their swim and swamp, “Wow, it’s not that cold anymore, guys,” followed by laughter and various stages of agreement.

Another camper, when told that their swim and swamp wouldn’t be until after dinner, cried, “But that’s so far away! I want to flip the canoe!”

It just goes to show that these tough campers are ready for whatever is thrown at them, as long as they keep moving forward.

That’s what we do here at Wilderness Canoe Base. We are always moving forward, no matter the storms or the mosquitoes, our campers are determined to experience the Boundary Waters for themselves, because no one can experience it for them.

Our campers return from trail tomorrow, and we are almost as excited to hear about their trip experience, as they are to use the sauna on Dominion Island!
