Lake Wapogasset Lutheran Bible Camp, Inc. (LWLBC) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it through our compliance with this policy.

This policy describes the types of information we may collect from you or that you may provide when you visit campwapo.org, lwlbci.com, oxlake.org, wildernesscanoebase.org, wapobiblecamp.org, gatheratwapo.org, gatheratwapo.com and the content, features, and functionality of these websites (collectively, “Website”), along with other information provided to LWLBC and our practices for collecting, using, maintaining, protecting and disclosing that information.

B. Who are we?

Lake Wapogasset Lutheran Bible Camp Inc., (“LWLBC”) is a non-profit organization.

We operate three camps:

  • Camp Wapo (Main Office for LWLBC) 738 Hickory Point Lane Amery, WI 54001
  • Ox Lake 1442 120th Avenue Amery, WI 54001
  • Wilderness Canoe Base 12477 Gunflint Trail Grand Marais, MN 55604

C. Why do we require your personally identifiable information(PII)?

LWLBCI collects uses and shares your personally identifiable information for organizational purposes of administering camp services for campers and/or their parents/legal guardians. We collect PII when you register to attend a camp through our website or other forms; we collect your pertinent medical information when enrolling in camps to ensure we have the necessary information to support your medical care during normal camp operations or during an emergency. We may also use images of campers taken during each camp for the purposes of education and promoting the camp(s).

D. Information We Collect About You

LWLBC and its camp personnel require PII to run the camp’s day to day operations.  These operations include, but are not explicitly limited to the following activities and associated information collection:

We collect several types of information from and about users, including information:

  • By which you may be personally identified, such as name, postal address, e-mail address, telephone number, birthdate, social security number, username or other identifier, or any other information the website collects that is defined as personal or personally identifiable information under an applicable law
  • Health history information for providing care at camp or in an emergency.
  • That is about you but individually does not identify you, such as employment history, educational history, grade, or personal statements; and/or
  • about your internet connection, the equipment you use to access our Website, and usage details.
  • Communication and Correspondence with Campers; Camper Testimonials
  • Photographic images without names
    • These images, which may be collected from photographs taken by camp staff during the camp, may be used for promotional materials such as web pages, brochures or other marketing materials. If used, only the images themselves shall be used; no names shall be included unless the person is over the age of 18 and permission is given by the person pictured.

E. Choice/Consent

At LWLBC, you provide us your consent to the use and sharing of your PII in accordance with this Policy when you register a camper to attend a LWLBC session.  Please review this Policy and any registration materials to ensure your understanding.  Should you have any questions or wish to limit the use of your information, please direct any questions to LWLBC.

F. How We Collect Information

i. Directly from you when you provide it to us;

  • Information that you provide by filling in forms on our Website. This includes information provided at the time of making donations, registering for camp, submitting employment applications, or signing up for events, notifications, or to receive further information. We may also ask you for information when you report a problem with our Website.
  • Records and copies of your correspondence (including e-mail addresses), if you contact us.
  • Your responses to surveys that we might ask you to complete for research purposes.
  • Details of transactions you carry out through with us and of the fulfillment of your orders or completion of donations. You may be required to provide financial information before registering or making a donation.
  • Your login information for any portions of the Website that require it.

ii. Automatically as you navigate through our website.

As you navigate through and interact with our Website, we may use automatic data collection technologies to collect certain information about your equipment, browsing actions, and patterns. We use a tool called “Google Analytics” to collect information about the use of this site. This does not enable Google to identify you. We use the information we get from Google Analytics only to improve our websites. Information collected by Google Analytics about your visits to this site is restricted by the Google Analytics Terms of Use and the Google Privacy Policy. You may opt out by using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or by disabling cookies.

Google Analytics and other Automated Data Collection Technologies collect:

  • To recruit for positions at LWLBCI and for other employment-related tasks;

    • To the church you are registered with or selected as a “Home Church”
      • This information is limited to; contact information and amount owed to camp

I. Data Security

To protect your personal information, we have implemented measures designed to secure your personal information from accidental loss and from unauthorized access, use, alteration and disclosure. We use commercially reasonable administrative, technical and physical security measures to include policies, training, computer safeguards, as well as access-controlled file rooms and buildings. All sensitive information transmitted online is protected by SSL encryption. The safety and security of your information also depends on you. Where we have given you (or where you have chosen) a password for access to certain parts of our Website, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We ask you not to share your password with anyone. Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we do our best to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of your personal information transmitted to our Website. Any transmission of personal information is at your own risk. We are not responsible for circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures contained on the Website.

J. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act Compliance

We do not collect any information from anyone under 13 years of age online. Our websites are directed to people who are at least 13 years old or older.

K. How long will we retain your Personal Information?

We will utilize, disclose or retain your Personal Information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which that Personal Information was collected and as permitted or required by law.

L. Accessing and Correcting Your Information

You may send us an e-mail at campwapo@campwapo.org to request access to, correct or delete any personal information that you have provided to us. If you have a user account, we cannot delete your personal information associated with that account except by also deleting that user account. As a camping organization and employer serving minors we are required by law and our accreditation to retain records of staff and campers. Information relating to these required records cannot be deleted. We may not accommodate a request to change information if we believe the change would violate any law or legal requirement or cause the information to be incorrect.

M. Changes to Our Privacy Policy

It is our policy to post any changes we make to our privacy policy on this page and to accompany material changes with a notice that the privacy policy has been updated on the Website home page. If we make material changes to how we treat our users’ personal information, we will notify you through a notice on the Website home page. The date the privacy policy was last revised is identified at the top of the page. You are responsible for periodically visiting our Website and this privacy policy to check for any changes.
