Staying Cool – July 27th 2021

Even when it’s hot we still have lots of fun, while taking it easy and doing things to help us stay cool. Today we did low lopes in the shade before lunch, then headed to the swimming hole for a picnic lunch and swimming.

When the weather is this hot we do the following to keep campers cool and safe, while still having fun:

  • HYDRATION – water is easily available, breaks are provided to hydrate, and reminders are made to campers and staff.
  • ACTIVITIES – we choose activities that fit with the temperature. Low ropes in the morning when it is cooler, swimming after lunch, and a dip in the stream later in the day.  One great benefit at Ox Lake is all the shady spots to hang out with friends making bracelets or playing games.
  • REST – we take lots of breaks to drink water and rest during and between activities. Campers are also able to choose how they participate in each activity.
