Waterfront Wednesday

What a wonderful Wednesday with lots of time spent down at our waterfront! But of course, we started our day all together in Crossfire Chapel. We truly got our energy up this morning by jumping around to songs like “I Thank God!”

Our bible study today was “Forgive Always” and we followed the story of how Joseph offered forgiveness to his brothers. We talked about times when it is hard to show forgiveness but that it is always the right option!

For field games today, we played Gladiator and Medic. Both are dodgeball games similar to Exploding Enchiladas, which we played yesterday. However, in Gladiator campers are in teams of two people: one gladiator and one guardian. In medic, campers were divided into four teams with one medic per team who had the power to “revive” players who had gotten out.

In the afternoon, free time was full of fun! We made a splash swimming down at the beach! Campers enjoyed playing on our inflatable “UFO” and jumping off the floating raft. Some also took canoes, paddleboards, and kayaks out on the lake. On land, we had a nine square tournament! Some campers played basketball – one even making a shot backwards! Others played sand volleyball, gaga, and airsquare. And we can’t forget our friends making crafts at the art shop!

After dinner, we all went down to the waterfront for Beach Bash! There are so many fun things to do during this time. Campers can get their face painted, challenge another cabin to tug-of-war, play rock-paper-scissors-splash with a counselor, play yard games, or of course go swimming! They can also participate in the belly flop or sandcastle building competition – the winner of each of these got to pie a counselor in the face!

Following canteen and cabin time, we headed back down to the beach for campfire. We sang our hearts out as the sun set. Then, our older Vines, Branches, and Roots campers got to go eat a snack and play a night game across camp. It was a Shrek-themed original designed by our summer staff! How silly is that!

All cabins finished their day in devotion time. What a day we had down at the waterfront! We can’t wait for tomorrow to have even more faith-filled fun!
