Very Merry
Our Thursday at Camp Wapo was very merry! We celebrated Christmas in July through fun little moments throughout the day. After breakfast, we sang some Christmas songs like O Come All Ye Faithful, Away in a Manger, and Go Tell It on the Mountain. Then, our bible study today was “Give Thanks Always.” We read the story of Elijah and the widow and talked about how it is important for us to give thanks in all circumstances.
For field games today we played Wapo Quaffle and Four-Way Medic. Wapo Quaffle is similar to Quidditch from the Harry Potter series. Players toss frisbees and gator balls across the field to score points. Periodically, a person wearing a yellow pinny and flags will run around. Players must ride around on noodles to try and catch them. We also played Medic, which is a classic dodgeball game but with one “medic” on each team with the power to revive other players.
After lunch, it was free time! During the first part of free time we had tie dye at the art shop. We had a great time making our crafty creations. Of course we had tons of fun making a splash down at the waterfront as well! There was also a basketball tournament in the second half of free time. A team from Big Lodge won and got to face the counselor All-Star Team later in the day.
For dinner, we had a fun country and Christmas themed banquet! Enjoy the group photos on Bunk1! We ate chicken kiev, mashed potatoes, and corn. Then, we had Christmas cake for dessert. It was so delicious and festive!
Then, we had Wapo County Fair. During this time, campers can choose from a variety of fun activities. This includes shaving cream hair, face paint, karaoke, hair braiding, caricatures, hair washing, gaga, and so much more! This time is ALWAYS so much fun for our campers!
Our campfire tonight was short and sweet. Then, we moved into a time of specialty light worship. We watched a shadow play of bible stories that span from creation through Jesus’ life. It’s such a unique way we get to worship before our final devos in our cabins!
