Tie Dye Thursday

Our bible study theme today was “Give Thanks Always.” The story we read was of Elijah and the widow. We talked about times it is hard to trust God and how we can learn to thank God in all circumstances. After chapel and bible study, we played Big Base and Gladiator for today’s field games!

Our Thursday afternoon free time starts out with tie dye! Campers had so much fun making their colorful creations! The second half of free time was our basketball tournament. The winners got to face off against the counselor team in an all-star game during canteen later on. Free time also brought about some swimming, candy, bracelet making, and game playing!

For dinner on Thursday’s we have a special banquet meal. Campers and counselors had the option to dress up for this barn-dance-themed occasion. Enjoy the group photos! We ate delicious chicken kiev, mashed potatoes with gravy, and corn. There was even some line dancing happening in the dining hall!

After banquet, we had Wapo County Fair. This is such a joyful and chaotic time! Campers can choose from so many activities: getting their nails painted, hair washed, hair braided, hair tinsel put in, a caricature drawn, shaving cream on their hair or face, riding a human taxi cab, sending a singing telegram, karaoke, gaga, airsquare, and more!

After canteen and the all-star game, we had our very last campfire of the week! It was so fun to sing all of the songs, especially our theme song “ALWAYS” written by summer staff member Grace Becker. It’s a bop!

Then, we moved into specialty light worship, in which campers watched a shadow play put on by counselors. To wrap up the night we had our final devos in our cabins. We can’t believe the week at camp ends tomorrow!
