Hello from Camp Wapo!

This morning we woke up to some rain but it doesn’t stop us from having lots of fun! This morning we introduced the theme of the day: trouble. Today’s Bible study is from the Old Testament book of Daniel and includes themes like connections, friendship, and homesickness. The protagonists are four young people who find themselves living in ancient Babylon, which isn’t their homeland. They are Hebrews and are living in this country as exiles and foreigners, and are trying to remain faithful to God in a land that doesn’t really care about Yahweh. They run into some trouble in which they have to decide to stand up for their faith or go along with the rules of their new home. They choose to stand up. What they find is that God joins them in the trouble that comes their way. If there’s a takeaway for today, that’s it: the world will give you trouble but God is with us in it and through it. We’re not alone. You are not alone.

After Bible study we had a fun filled day with some rainy day activities like Gibberish, board games, coloring pages and everyone’s favorite – human scavenger hunt. We had a scrumptious lunch and headed to quiet time while mother nature did her thing and the sun came out! We had a sunny afternoon with lots of different activities. Campers could choose from swimming at the beach to hanging out at the canteen to slipping down the slide.

It’s time for dinner, I heard it is Taco Tuesday!
