Stepping Into a Week of Camp

It’s been a great Sunday here at Camp Wapo! We stepped into a week of fun and faith! Throughout the week, we will be exploring the theme ALWAYS with our campers. We started this off strong with today’s bible study “Rejoice Always” from Philippians 4:4-6. We learned how we can rejoice in God’s goodness all the time!

After dinner and bible study, we gathered around to listen to camp traditions and staff introductions. (Enjoy the all-camp photo!) During this time, our staff introduced the Wapo Olympics, which will be happening throughout the week. This will include challenges like cleanest cabin, finding the Wapo medallions, relay races, and discovering which staff member “the mole” is this year.

Following that, we had some more time with our cabins as well as some time at the canteen. Root beer and cotton candy soda were popular, and of course, our specialty slushies were all the rage! Campers also played some nine square, spike ball, and even basketball during this time.

We ended our night learning worship songs down by the campfire. The lake views are ALWAYS the best at sunset! We sang fast songs like “Every Move I Make” before winding down with some slower songs like “Dance With Me.”

Then, we did devotions (devos for short) in our cabin groups before heading to bed. These activities help campers grow closer to each other and God. We’ll be nice and rested for our first full day of camp tomorrow!
