Holy cow we are happy! Why, you may ask? The rest of our summer staff has finally arrived! Staff training is well underway and we are having the best time getting to know one another. You would not believe the number of skits we have in the works; there are at least 20! Along with skits, we’ve also been working on kid-centered counseling, community building, and getting to know the ins and outs of camp.
Camp Wapo utilizes a system where we split up our summer staff onto teams made up of 2 team leads and 5-10 counselors. Team leads are returning summer staff members that mentor and support counselors in cabins and the overall program throughout the summer. During the two weeks of staff training, the teams spend time together going through bible studies, playing games, exploring camp, and sharing meals, as well as many other fantastic camp activities. If the team leads are extra fun, teams might just find themselves at Ellie’s Ice Cream in town during training, which is a sweet and refreshing break from the schedule!
