Slushy Sunday

We had a sweet start to our week at camp! We’ve loved starting to get to know our counselors and cabinmates. There are Sprouts, Vines, and Branches aged Wapo Youth cabins. We also have cabins from Easter Confirmation and highschool Tim Teamers helping lead in those cabins. 

This week we’ll be growing in our faith through exploring our summer’s theme ALWAYS! For today’s bible study we read Philippians 4:4-6. Our theme was “Rejoice Always.” We learned the importance of rejoicing in God’s goodness everyday – there is always something to celebrate!

The Olympics in Paris wrapped up earlier today, but we’ll be having the Wapo Olympics here in Amery, Wisconsin this week. We introduced several challenges cabins will compete in throughout the week. These include winning the golden plunger for the cleanest cabin, finding the three Wapo Medallions, winning our all-camp games, and a relay race!

Of course we had to have some canteen time. A sweet treat like a slushy, a kempswich, or laffy taffy is a great start to our camp week! Then, we headed down to the campfire for worship. We sang some favorites like “Radical God” and “Set A Fire.” We also learned our theme song “Always” that was written by one of our own summer staff!

Throughout the week we will do different devotions (or devos for short) with our cabins each night. These could include: letter to self devo, dance devo, footwashing devo, affirmations devo, yarn devo, and story devo. This is a great way for us to end our day by growing closer to each other and God. We can’t wait for another great faith-filled day tomorrow!
