Sliding into GIFT Camp
Today we slid into our first day of Generations In Faith Together (GIFT) Camp! Families arrived and settled in this afternoon. Then, we started the fun right away with some time for play! We played some gaga, carpetball, air square, and enjoyed the playground together. Of course, we were drinking tons of water and sticking to the shade to help beat the heat!
For dinner, we gathered in commons and did the Superman grace together. Then, we ate some yummy circle pizzas! Family groups and staff chatted and shared some meaningful stories about how they started to come to Camp Wapo and what keeps them coming back! It was such a powerful moment of fellowship.
Our evening activity was down at Lindsey Beach. We played a game of human scavenger hunt. Each group sent up a person who fit different categories like stinkiest shoe, best animal noise, and best dance move. It had us all laughing and cheering!
The day would not be complete without some worship time. We gathered down at Bethany Beach and it was oh-so-pretty! The sun dappled campfire was so lovely. We sang songs like “Radical God,” “Gospel Light,” and “Dance with Me.”
To end our night we enjoyed a popcorn snack in commons. Some families mingled and played board games together in commons. Others brought their littles to hear a bedtime in Anderson chapel before turning in for the night.
It was a great first day! We can’t wait for a fun day of beach time, bible study, and even more to come tomorrow!
