Slam Dunk Sunday

We had such a great first night here at Camp Wapo! The campers met their counselors and settled into their cabin with their cabinmates. Then, they played some fun get-to-know-you games before it was time to eat some pizza for supper!

Our theme this summer is ALWAYS! During bible study today, we explored the theme “Rejoice Always” through reading Philippians 4:4-6. We talked about how we can celebrate and rejoice in God’s goodness for our everyday lives.

After dinner and bible study, we gathered to listen to some staff introductions and camp traditions. We also got to learn all about the Wapo Olympics, which will be happening throughout the week. There will be relays to be won, medallions to be found, a golden plunger to be awarded to the cleanest cabin, and “the mole” to be discovered amongst the staff!

Then, we got to hang out at the canteen. This is ALWAYS a great time to enjoy some sweet treats and some games like nine square or basketball. That’s a slam dunk if you ask me! Next, we gathered for a campfire worship down at Lindsey Beach. We sang great songs like “Radical God.” Lastly, we did devotions (or devos for short) in our cabin groups. It’s time to rest up for a great day of camp tomorrow!
