We have had a fantastic first morning here at camp!
We started our morning off with first word at the Coliseum and Lindsey beach where we introduced the theme of the day: remember. We then ate a yummy meal of pancakes, eggs, and bacon! We worshipped this morning in Crossfire Chapel where we sang songs and saw a funny skit! Chapel is a time when we learn about different ways to give offerings to God, we sing songs of varying speeds, and give confession and forgiveness to God.
After chapel, we dove into our reading for today of Isaiah 40: 25-41. Campers learned to remember that God calls out each star by name including us. It also asks us to remember that trusting in God, allows him to give us hope and strength no matter what.
After chapel, we headed into field games where we played a Camp Wapo classic: Mighty Mighty Scoop Noodle Challenge! This game involves frisbees, noodles, gator balls, and footballs.
We had a delicious lunch of chicken wraps before campers took the swim test! The swim test has been modified since last year and requires campers to head out to a buoy and back. In order to fully pass the test, campers have to tread water for two minutes. After the swim test, campers went back to cabins to change and then headed into free time. In free time, campers can go to varying activities across the camp. These activities include gaga, 9-square, air square, canteen, boats, swimming and the art shop. There is a new craft of the day at the art shop everyday here. Todays activity is bracelet making! Now campers are headed for dinner or cabin challenge.
