Field Games and Fun
It was a terrific Tuesday here at Camp Wapo! We started our day off strong by worshiping in the chapel! Singing songs like “I Thank God” and “Psalm 25” got us pumped up for a day full of fun!
Our bible study theme today was “Pray Always” and we read Matthew 6:5-15. Cabin groups talked about how prayer has been a part of their lives and looked at The Lord’s Prayer in a new light!
For field games we played Exploding Enchiladas, which is an every-person-for-themselves dodgeball game. If you get out you must sit down until the person who got you out is down. Then, you say “explode” as you jump back up into the game! We also played Rat-A-Tat-Tat, which is another individual player game but with only one large ball. We ALWAYS have such a great time playing field games!
After lunch, there was so much fun to be had during free time! Lots of campers stayed cool by swimming down at the waterfront or taking a paddleboard or kayak out on the lake. The craft of the day at the art shop was watercolor. There were so many pretty designs! Others enjoyed the gaga tournament at the start of free time. Another very popular activity was the jam session. Campers gathered to sing and play instruments. Counselors were there to teach those who wanted to learn some camp songs or even try a new instrument!
It started to rain a little bit during our Taco Tuesday dinner, so we ate inside. Thankfully we were able to have some nice and dry indoor fun after dinner. To avoid muddy fields, we gathered in a chapel for a human scavenger hunt. Cabins sent up members who could whistle best, make funny animal noises, or other fun things called out for.
Following our human scavenger hunt, we had a special guest join us. Lutheran rapper “Agape” sang and danced with us in the chapel. We all had lots of fun “sprinkling sunshine on each other” as the lyrics to one of his songs say!
It’s not an evening at camp without a little canteen time. The arrival of caramel apple cow tales was a big hit tonight! After we had all had some time to chill out with our sweet treats, we headed back inside for an indoor “campfire” worship. Once we sang some songs and watched a silly skit, we were ready to do devos in our cabins and head to bed.
What another great day at camp filled with field games, friends, faith, and fun! We can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
