The Great Indoors

It was a fabulous day here at Camp Wapo in the great indoors! It was such a rainy day and we found some fun things to do inside to dodge the rain! We started our day with breakfast to fuel up for our fun. Then, we had a morning worship in the chapel where we sang songs like “Unashamed Love” and “Always.”

Our bible study theme today was “Love Always.” We read the story of Lydia, a woman who sold purple cloth. We talked about how God’s love showed up in her story and how we can share God’s love with one another!

For our indoor field games time we had tons of different activities happening! Our Vines and Branches cabins had fun with Just Dance and then watching the Olympics. They also had the option of playing noodle hockey or indoor nine square. Our Sprouts campers played Mother Hen. One person sits in the middle of the circle and points out those trying to steal her eggs (other players’ shoes). They also had the option of coloring or putting together puzzles.

After lunch, the indoor fun continued for free time! We had the canteen and Wapo Shoppo open in lower commons. Upper commons was filled with crafty projects from the art shop! Campers made beady buddies, bracelets, jewel art, and did some coloring. In Crossfire there were board games galore, indoor nine square, and the option to watch some Olympic volleyball.

We all gathered in Crossfire after dinner for a Wapo Olympics challenge: Ultimate Pictionary! Teams raced to guess as many pictures as possible, but had to track down the counselor hiding with the word bank in between. Then we enjoyed some sweet treats before our indoor campfire worship on the ramp. I guess you could call it a “rampfire!”

Then, we headed back to the chapel for a special worship called Drawn to the Word. During this time, Paul Oman paints for us while counselors sing worship songs and read bible verses. Today he painted a beautiful scene of a Wapo campfire. The painting started upside down and there were oohs and ahhs when it was flipped. There were more gasps when the lights went off and we could see the glow in the dark angel hovering over the scene. How truly special is that!

What a great end to a fabulous day at camp. We ALWAYS know how to make the most of the great indoors! But we are looking forward to sunnier skies the rest of the week though!
