Love and Laughter

We had such a wonderful Wednesday here at Camp Wapo! Our day was full of love and laughter! Our morning began with worship in the chapel. We sang songs like “Everlasting Love,” “Unashamed Love,” and “Prince of Peace.” It’s so much fun to experience all the campers’ energy for their favorite worship songs!

Our bible study theme today was “Forgive Always.” Cabins read the story of Joseph forgiving his brothers. We talked about how sometimes it is hard to forgive – especially with our siblings sometimes – but that forgiveness is always the right choice. God can help us learn to forgive others like God first forgave us.

For field games today we played Snoodles and Exploding Enchiladas. Snoodles is a game where four teams try to get all of the pool noodles to their side. They have to do this without getting out by having their flags taken. Exploding Enchiladas is an every-person-for-themselves dodgeball game. When a player gets out, they sit until the person who got them out gets down. Then, they jump up and say “explode” to get back in the game.

Many campers say free time is the best part of their day. After all, there is ALWAYS so much to choose from! Some campers enjoyed the AC in the chapel while they watched the USA men’s basketball team play in the Olympics. Tons of kiddos beat the heat with a cold canteen treat or being down at the beach. We also had a nine square tournament out by Anderson Hall. Others enjoyed making yarn crafts and beady buddies at the art shop, playing air square, carpetball, and of course gaga.

After supper, we had some indoor evening activity time to dodge the rain that came our way. We stayed safe and dry in the chapel and commons. Our first activity was Extreme Pictionary. Cabins raced to guess the most words from pictures they drew. The twist was that between each word, they had to find the counselor wandering around with the clipboard. Then, we played Olympic Bingo. Each cabin wrote out a bingo card and got to cross out squares if that event occurred as we watched the Olympics on the projector.

Following canteen time, it was time for campfire. Since the benches were wet, we worshipped inside of the chapel. We started with a super high energy sing of “Every Move I Make” and ended with a slower run of “Light the Fire.” What a fun end to a great day of love and laughter! We can’t wait for even more faith conversations, worship, games, and giggles tomorrow!
