“Grape” To Meet You
It was a “grape” first day of Camp Wapo! After some delicious personal pizzas for dinner, cabins gathered for bible study. Our theme this summer is ALWAYS! Today, our bible study was “Rejoice Always.” We read Philippians 4:4-6 and talked about how we can celebrate God’s goodness everyday!
Then, we settled in to listen to some staff introductions and traditions. We also introduced the Wapo Olympics! Cabins will compete for points from different challenges throughout the week. These challenges include relays, finding the Wapo Medallions, and winning the Golden Plunger for having the cleanest cabin. We might not be in Paris, but here in Amery, Wisconsin we have our very own olympic games!
After that, we alternated between time in our cabins and time at the canteen. Getting a sweet treat is ALWAYS a “grape” way to start the week! Campers enjoyed treats like slushies, tootsie pops, and laffy taffy (grape is a flavor option for all of the above). Plus, it’s a “grape” time to get to know our cabin mates!
It started to rain right before campfire time, so we stayed safe and dry with some indoor worship tonight. Sprouts campers stayed in lower commons and Vines/Branches campers were up in the chapel. We truly made the best of it and had a great time singing tunes like “Radical God” and “Set A Fire.” Then it was time for devotions (or devos for short) in our cabins and then it’s off to bed. We’ll be rested for our first full day tomorrow!
