Such a Sweet Day

We had a great first full day here at camp! We started our day with chapel. This indoor worship time gets us moving with some singing and dancing to praise God! Then, we dispersed into our cabin groupings to do our bible study.

Today our bible study theme was “Love Always.” We read the story of Lydia – an ordinary woman who sold purple cloth. Lydia was shown God’s love and then shared that love with others! If you’d like to read it, the passage is from Acts 16:9-15.

After bible study, we gathered on the fields to play a camp classic: Mighty Mighty Scoop Noodle Challenge! In this game, two teams compete to move items like gator balls, frisbees, footballs, and pool noodles onto their side of the field. If a player is tagged they must sit down and wait for a teammate to come tag them and skip back to their side!

In the afternoon, our Vines and Branches cabins did their swim test down at our waterfront. Then, it started to rain so we delayed our Sprouts swim test and stayed safe and dry in our cabins. After the rain passed, our Sprouts campers were able to take their swim test. The water was lovely and we were grateful the day cleared up so nicely! During that time Vines and Branches had some free time around the rest of camp.

After supper, we played an all-camp game called Chip Noodle. Just like our field game earlier today, this game involves pool noodles. Except in this game the object is to not get tagged by a counselor holding a pool noodle while searching camp for colored chips! If you do get tagged, a counselor wearing a life vest will give you a silly task to complete to get back into the game.

Then, we gathered together to watch Monday Night Live. This variety show consisted of fun skits that featured both counselors and campers. The candy shop skit was definitely a crowd favorite!

Then our age groups alternated between some cabin time and canteen time. Enjoying a sweet treat with friends is ALWAYS a fun time! Then, we ended our night at the campfire. Worshiping next to the lake is such a special experience. Lastly, cabins did their devotionals together before going to bed. It was such a great first day and we can’t wait for tomorrow!
