Monday: Medals, Music, & More
Our Monday was a marvelous day full of so much fun! It all started this morning with a super high energy worship up in Crossfire Chapel! Music is ALWAYS a great way to start our days!
Today’s bible study theme is “Love Always.” The main character of the story is Lydia, who sells purple cloth. She was an ordinary person who was shown God’s love and then showed that love to others! If you’d like to read it, the passage is from Acts 16:9-15.
For field games, we played a Camp Wapo classic: Mighty Mighty Scoop Noodle Challenge! Campers try to move items like gator balls, frisbees, footballs, and pool noodles from the other team’s side of the field to their own.
In the afternoon, it was time for the swim test! It was a bit windy and wavy out, but we still were glad to get in the lake! The rest of the afternoon was our free time! Some campers stayed to enjoy the beach a little longer. Others enjoyed a sweet treat from the canteen, made a bracelet at the art shop, or played games like gaga and airsquare. It was also quite popular to go looking for the three Wapo medallions – bronze, silver, and gold – after the first clues were posted in the art shop windows!
After dinner, we had our relay portion of the Wapo Olympics! Cabins had to untie themselves from a human knot, pass a gator ball down the line, spin around a pool noodle, and race to the finish line. Crossfire 305/306 and Antioch tied for the first place “gold medal”! You’ll see them pictured here! (All other cabin photos from the Wapo Olympics can be viewed on Bunk1.)
During canteen tonight, there were so many games being played! Campers enjoyed basketball, volleyball, nine square, and spike ball. We certainly are an active bunch! Once we were all supplied with sugar, we headed down to the campfire. We sang some upbeat worship songs and watched a skit.
Then, we mellowed out and walked to Crossfire Chapel for Drawn To The Word. During this specialty worship, Pastor Paul Oman paints a scene from a bible story while counselors share music and spoken word. It is truly such a neat experience! Especially when Paul flips the canvas right-side-up halfway through his painting!
Lastly, cabins did devos together before going to bed. What a great Monday full of music, medals, medallions, Mighty Mighty, and even more! We can’t wait for tomorrow!
