Phew, we had a loaded day here at camp. Thursday begins with an optional free time where campers can play games like air square, gaga, and nine-square as well as spend time at the art shop. Sprouts is the first to head into the first word of the day and our brunch. We eat breakfast sandwiches, triangle hash browns, donut holes, and yogurt. Vines and branches are the next to do first word and brunch. We all head up to Crossfire to do our final chapel worship of the week. Then, all campers head into Bible Study with our theme for the day being Remix. We learned about how to embrace different and unique ways to shine our own light and embrace our diversity. We all can help each other’s lights shine brighter in the world. Our field game for the day was Hula Launchers. This game involves slingshots, gator balls, and small foam balls that get launched from the slingshots. Campers rotated halfway through to get out of the heat a little bit and do some more relaxing activities like Giant Uno and frisbee or soccer. We then had free time for all to enjoy. Tonight’s dinner is our banquet meal and that theme is red carpet. The dining hall gets decorated with lights, stars, banners, and each cabin takes a photo in their banquet clothes. Following the banquet meal, campers head into Wapo County Fair. Before we began that fun event, campers were able to find out who the mole was. This is discovered by several counselors eating a plate of whipped cream with the counselor who is the mole having a plate that reveals them to be the mole. Wapo County Fair has many fun activities for campers to be participating in. Some highlights include hydration station, hair braiding, shaving cream, hair tinsel, nail painting and many more. Canteen was also open during this time and we had the basketball all star game. This game involves the counselors competing against the winner of the camper basketball tournament earlier in the day. The final group event of the night is specialty worship. This is our final campfire that turns into a deeper way of discovering more about God and ourselves. We sing several songs and then break into small prayer stations surrounding the campfire. The final aspect is the burning of the prayer chains that campers have completed throughout the week. After this, cabins went into devotions and then headed to bed for the night. Hope to see you all tomorrow at closing worship!
